National Maritime Museum Cornwall: the essential attraction in Falmouth for your holiday in Cornwall in 2012
Monday, April 18th, 2011Discover the bravest people at sea today in the Search and Rescue exhibit at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth.
UrlaubCornwall visited the museum to see its most impressive exhibition ever, with an incredible insight into saving lives at sea.
Climb aboard a Sea King helicopter, explore a RNLI lifeboat and revisit the stories of how rescue teams have fought wild weather conditions to bring people home safely.
The Maritime Museum offers plenty of other things to see and do amongst its 15 galleries on 5 floors. The museum is a celebration of the past, present and future of seafaring, which has played such an important role in Cornish and British history.
The majestic sight of boats from every era in the main hall, the hands on activity centre and the underwater Tidal Zone make the National Maritime Museum a great family attraction for any holiday in Cornwall.
The 2012 BC exhibition takes you back to the Bronze Age, with a reconstruction of a prehistoric boat and rare artefacts found nowhere else in England.
Then you can see an official Olympic display showing the modern boats at the cutting edge of sailing, which will be competing at the London Olympics in summer 2012.
